In this process, a solid material is vaporised in a vacuum and applied to the surface of a component, resulting in a very high level of hardness. To be more precise, ion particles from the original material are replaced by "different coloured" ones. This creates a thin, bonded metal or metal-ceramic surface layer in the selected colour. A matt finish can hardly be more elegant and durable
